Here’s our privacy policy in plain English. We run Gardens Ideas (gardensideas.com), a gardening tips blog, and we take your privacy seriously — even though we’re a small site, not some tech giant.
Information we collect
- Comments: If you leave a comment, we collect what you type in the form, along with your IP address and browser information so we can spot spam. An anonymized string created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to show your profile picture, if you have one.
- Contact form: When you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message — simply so we can reply to you. We never add you to a mailing list unless you specifically ask.
- Cookies: Like most websites, we use cookies to remember your preferences (such as your comment details) and to understand how the site is used.
- Analytics: We may use analytics tools that collect anonymous information about visits — which pages are popular, roughly where visitors come from — so we can make the site better. This data doesn’t identify you personally.
How we use it
We use this information to run the site, respond to messages, fight spam, and understand which content readers enjoy. That’s it. We don’t sell your personal information. Ever.
Third parties
- Embedded content from other websites (for example, videos) behaves the same as if you had visited those websites directly — those sites may collect data according to their own policies.
- If we run advertisements or affiliate links in the future, those partners may use cookies in line with their own privacy policies.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make a request, just use the contact form on our Contact Us page.
Data retention
Comments and contact messages are kept for as long as needed for the purposes described above. Analytics data is typically aggregated and anonymized.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new “last updated” date.
Questions about any of this? Reach us through the Contact Us page — we’re happy to explain.
